The HELPLIS-Mission has been initiated by even-minded LIS Professional Associations and the Publishing Firms to support and  assist the Covid-19 affected LIS professionals and the their diseased  families. The following Associations and Publishing firms have joined together to form this initiative and are treated as Promoting Associations of this Mission.

Management Libraries Network (MANLIBNET)

Management Libraries Network (MANLIBNET) was established in the year 1998 at the first convention jointly organized by the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) and Ahmedabad Management Association. MANLIBNET is a movement for sharing of resources and information among the libraries by fostering a spirit of cooperation and weaving them together in a networking arrangement, particularly among management and business libraries and the librarians. MANLIBNET organizes annual conferences in collaboration with prominent academic institutions of the country. Some of the institutions it has collaborated in the past include IIM Ahmedabad; IIM Lucknow; IIM Indore; IIM Kozhikode; IMT Ghaziabad; XLRI Jamshedpur; ICSSR; Nirma University; University of Delhi; EDI Ahmedabad; TAPMI Manipal; Jaipuria Institute of Management, Noida; and IIM Trichy. MANLIBNET has been conducting Librarian Development Programmes for the professional and educational enhancement of LIS professionals.

LIS Academy (LISA)

The LIS Academy (Library & Information Science Academy) is a professional charitable Trust established to work for the development of the Profession and to assist Libraries with the state-of-the-art technology. The primary focus of the Academy is to provide need-based service to the different types of Libraries in the country and to work for the advancement of Library and Information Science (LIS) profession at large. The LIS Academy having a tagline “Learn Inspire Serve”, aims to become the best, active and dynamic professional body by supporting the professionals with the essential knowledge, skills, and values of librarianship using innovative and cutting-edge technology and by adopting best and fair practices and innovative ideas. The mission of the LIS Academy is to spread multi-dimensional utility and overall growth of profession of Librarianship, through education, literature, research, publications, outsource, training programs, consultation and collaboration.

Asian Library Association (ASIALA)

Headquartered at New Delhi, the Asian Library Association (ASIALA) is an International Library Association, formed to play an important role in the promotion of librarianship as a profession vital to an informed and knowledgeable society and puts emphasis on the professional development of LIS community through advocacy, peer networking, and leadership development through idea generation and many other initiatives.

One of the main objectives of ASIALA is development of strong linkages among Libraries in Asian Countries through discussion, sharing and exchange of ideas and thus providing a common forum to the professionals interested or engaged in librarianship and information services by holding national and international conferences, seminars, workshops, training programmes, library development programmes and publishing Journals, Books and Reports etc. across Asian countries.

Odisha Library Academy (OLA)

Odisha Library Academy was launched on 9th August 2015 by a group of young and dynamic Library and Information Science Professionals of Odisha. The primary objective of this Academy is to harness the Library Movement in the state. The Academy is a non-profit making professional organization with the following goals:

  • To promote the Library & Information Science Education & Research in the state of Odisha;

 

  • To undertake training and continuing education among library professionals for the improvement of the status and service conditions of library professionals in the state;

 

  • To suggest and frame rules, regulations and standards to the Govt. of Odisha for the library movement and its implementation;

 

  • To publish the Library & Information Science Journal, Periodicals and books, which will lead to the improvement of professionalism among the library staff;

Madhya Pradesh Library Association (MPLA)

Madhya Pradesh Library Association (MPLA) is a non-profit organisation established on 5th September, to support the development in the field of librarianship in Madhya Pradesh. The MPLA undertakes supports, coordinate research and studies, conducts short term training courses; organises general/special meetings, and hold seminars and conferences in alternate years on current problems of Libraries and Librarians and other allied areas are selected as themes for discussions. It also gives consultancy to Libraries and Librarians to upgrade their Libraries. While the Association consistently strives to improve the standard services in all kinds of libraries, within its scope, systematic efforts are also being made to raise the emoluments and professional status of the library personnel. It brings together the library and information personnel in all kinds of government and non-government organizations. By so doing the MPLA speaks the professions a whole.

Society for the Advancement of Library and Information Science (SALIS)

The acronym ‘SALIS’ stands for Society for the Advancement of Library and Information Science. Like-minded library professionals established SALIS as a professional association in March 2002. The primary focus was to provide need-based service to the profession and to work for the advancement of Library and Information Science (LIS). The current focus of SALIS is to ‘Reach the Unreached’ LIS professionals with rural settings in order to minimize the digital divide. It also pays attention on the working library professionals of Public Libraries, the segment which almost remains as an area of neglect.

Advance Information Network of Libraries (ADINET)

ADINET is a Network of about 3000 Libraries and Information Centres in Gujarat. It caters to all types of Libraries:  School, College, University, Institutional and even Public Libraries. Hence access is provided to hundreds of Libraries, Librarians and Organisations through this Network.

The vision of ADINET is to join libraries, to enable them to achieve what cannot be done by one library alone. This will help them to harness their limited resources and collective strengths so that libraries can continue to play their historic role as societies portal to information. It therefore promotes resource sharing and disseminates valuable information.

In order to engage and empower Professionals, ADINET has started Special Interest Groups for all categories of Libraries viz. School, College, University, Public, Special Libraries and even LIS Schools in order to bring together Librarians of each SIG, to seek an identity for themselves.
